AEW Dynamite: International Title Match announced; Four Title Matches set for Rampage

Orange Cassidy has proved his worth as the most fighting champion in the current AEW locker room. After successfully defending his title against not one but twenty superstars at a time, he’s scheduled for another title defense.

The “Freshly Squeezed” AEW wrestler will defend his International Championship against Swerve Strickland, next week on Dynamite. The match was confirmed after what transpired during the latest episode of Dynamite on the TBS Network.

Darby Allin and AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated The Gates of Agony in a tag team match after which Swerve Strickland and his allies tried to attack them. But Sting made his return to TV to even the odds.

As a result, the next title defense for Cassidy was confirmed for the June 7 episode of Dynamite. Previously, the champion was victorious in a 21-Man Blackjack Battle Royal at Double or Nothing 2023 to retain his championship.

Speaking of championships, multiple separate title defenses have been announced for this week’s episode of AEW Rampage. In what’s being touted as a “Championship Friday” edition, overall four titles across NJPW and ROH will be on the line.

The first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale will defend her title against Emi Sakura on Rampage. Willow benefitted from an injury of Mercedes Mone at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Resurgence to capture her maiden title.

NJPW World TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. is also set for a title defense on Rampage against Action Andretti. This will only be Sabre’s second match at an AEW event. His first AEW match was a loss to Claudio Castagnoli at Forbidden Door, last June.

El Hijo del Vikingo will also attend Rampage to defend his AAA Mega Championship in a three-way match against Dralistico and Komander. After holding the AAA Mega Championship for over 500 days, this marks the champ’s Rampage return in a month.

Finally, Ring of Honor’s ROH Pure Championship will be on the line as the champion Katsuyori Shibata will defend against Lee Moriarty. Rampage airs in a taped format this Friday night on the TNT Network from the Viejas Arena, San Diego, California.
