CSK are chasing a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs courtesy of another rain interruption after Gujarat Titans scored 214/4 in their full quota of overs. As CSK eye their 5th IPL title, Noor Ahmad has so far provided some stutters for the Chennai outfit.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave CSK a fantastic start in the run chase. The pair added 52 runs in the curtailed powerplay of 4 overs. They scored runs of Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan, but have failed to handle the youngest player of this IPL season.
Noor Ahmad, who also happens to be the youngest player in this IPL season, has picked up 2 wickets in his three overs spell.
He has been the pick of the bowlers for GT and has scalped both the CSK openers. Ruturaj Gaikwad was foxed by the pace and top-edged one in the offside ring in Noor’s first over. And the young Afghan sent Devon Conway back in the hut in his 2nd over.
On a night when all the gladiators of IPL went for plenty, the smiling Afghan teenager has pulled off a stellar spell of 2/17 in his quota of 3 overs, at an astonishing economy of 5.67 runs per over.
At the end of 9 overs, CSK are 99 for 2 and need 72 runs in the last six overs.
