ODI World Cup 2023: List of India Matches, Complete schedule, Venues after draft schedule

A ten-team World Cup this year will be played in India only and BCCI is reportedly set to announce the complete schedule soon. But ahead of that, reports have emerged regarding the draft of the schedule, which has given certain insights on how the matches will be placed in the tournament.

India vs Pakistan on October 15, India vs Australia in Chennai

ESPN Cricinfo has confirmed the Indian team is set to commence their World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia on October 8 and the match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. And the blockbuster tie between Indian and Pakistan is reportedly set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad a week later on October 15.

The Indian team will play nine group league matches across nine venues. Host cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Dharamshala are among the venues set to get one India match each in the tournament. The BCCI has reportedly shared the draft to ICC, which was then forwarded to all the participating nations for their feedback.

It is to be seen what feedback arrives from Pakistan as PCB chairman Najam Sethi recently stated Pakistan would like to avoid a match in Ahmedabad before the knockout stages.

Two teams will be joining from the upcoming ICC Qualifiers which is set to be played in Zimbabwe. Eight teams have already qualified for the World Cup. Former Champions Sri Lanka and West Indies will be playing in the Qualifiers in order to book their berth for the tournament later this year.
