West Indies were forced into the qualifiers for the ODI World Cup as the Caribbean nation failed to finish within the top eight of the ICC rankings. UAE, on the other hand, booked its qualifier berth through playoffs.
West Indies come into the series drawing an ODI series against South Africa away 1-1 back in March. Shai Hope will be the skipper with some of the key players missing. Coach Darren Sammy will have a new assistant in former captain Carl Hooper, who has been roped in till the end of World Cup qualifiers.
This will be the third time West Indies will take on UAE, winning the last two encounters to have a 2-0 lead in head-to head.
