WWE NXT: New Challenger emerges for World Heavyweight Championship

In the final segment of this week’s NXT, Bron Breakker was asked about his attack on Ilja Dragunox from earlier the night. In response, Breakker said that Dragunov’s comments about being the most intense Superstar in NXT were “garbage.”

Breakker was apparently looking for more competition beyond NXT and this is why he turned his attention to the main roster. On that note, he ended up calling the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

Turning his attention to the top Raw Superstar, Breakker dared Rollins to come back on NXT for a night to put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Rollins is yet to respond to this challenge.

Another noticeable thing during this segment was that Breakker mentioned how Rollins was the inaugural NXT Champion in 2012 while he has been the most dominant holder of the title over the past couple of years.

Indeed, Breakker has been the top-most star of the gold brand during the NXT 2.0 era. The former two-time NXT Champion held the belt for a combined 425 days. His most recent run lasted for nearly a year, from April 4, 2022, to April 1, 2023.

This makes him the second-longest reigning NXT Champion of all time (behind Finn Balor’s 504-day combined reign). At WWE NXT Stand & Deliver, the current NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes defeated Breakker to win the title.

As for Seth Rollins, he was one of the original NXT Superstars from the last decade to make it big on the main roster. Back in 2012, he captured the title in the final match of a tournament by defeating Jinder Mahal.

Later that year, in November, Seth Rollins (alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns) was called up to WWE’s main roster as The Shield. Rollins’ final match on NXT took place in July 2013.

On May 27, Rollins became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia by defeating AJ Styles in the final match of a tournament to become an overall 4-time world champion in WWE.

His first title went down on Raw as he defeated The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and thereby successfully retained. After the match, Finn Balor confronted him, teasing a match between the two at 2023 Money in the Bank in July.
